Avec un premier millésime produit en 2004, le vignoble chilien Polkura se classe désormais parmi les meilleurs vignobles chiliens.
La passion pour la syrah est ce qui définit Polkura le mieux. Concentration, fraîcheur et élégance constituent leurs principales caractéristiques.
Situé dans la partie ouest de la Vallée de Colchagua (Marchigue) soit à environ 30 kilomètres de l’océan pacifique, le domaine est protégé par une chaîne de montagnes.
La résultante de ce climat méditerranéen, faisant partie de la famille des climats tempérés ou tempérés chauds, sont des vins qui présentent des notes de poivre noir, d’herbes et de violette. En bouche les vins sont corsés et les tannins sont bien présents. Le tout avec fraîcheur et finesse.
Dans le langage du peuple autochtone des Mapuches, Polkura signifie roche jaune, faisant référence au granite jaune situé à différentes profondeurs du sol. Ce granite décomposé procure la minéralité aux vins tandis que l’argile lui confère sa structure et son corps.
Les cépages malbec; tempranillo; cabernet sauvignon; grenache noir; mourvèdre et merlot sont également cultivés.

Polkura élabore aussi un superbe vin blanc nommé Aylin signifiant clair et transparent toujours dans la langue du peuple Mapuche. Composé à 100% de sauvignon blanc planté dans la région de Leyda à proximité de l’océan pacifique. Un vin aux arômes de pêche, légèrement citronné et herbacé, offrant un bel équilibre entre l’acidité et la douceur du fruit.
Polkura n’a pas fini de nous surprendre pour de nombreuses années à venir!
